Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce / Visitor Center

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center promotes the responsible growth of the greater Soldotna area through representation, education, networking opportunities, and advocacy for their membership. The organization is also the official tourism arm of the City of Soldotna, contracted to promote our city as a destination and to operate the Visitor Center.

Small Business Development Center

The State of Alaska’s Small Business Development Center offers workshops throughout the state (including their location in Soldotna) focused on all aspects of small business start-ups and operation. Their tools are organized around the business life cycle. Other useful information includes small business financing, business tax information, marketing assistance, market research, and instructions for applying for a business license.

Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District (KPEDD)

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Economic Development District (KPEDD) serves the Kenai Peninsula Borough residents by enhancing their quality of life through responsible and sustainable regional economic and workforce development. The organization hosts the annual Industry Outlook Forum and the Business Innovation Center (incubator). Their microloan program is offered to small businesses in the Kenai Peninsula Borough for whom traditional financing models have proven difficult.  KPEDD researches and publishes Situations and Prospects, an annual report on the economies and communities of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council

Since 1990, the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council (KPTMC) has served as the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s 501(c)6 nonprofit, regional Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). Through a public-private partnership, KPTMC represents its members and the Borough to promote the Kenai Peninsula as a fun-filled, world-class visitor destination.

The mission of the KPTMC is: “To promote, develop and coordinate visitation to the Kenai Peninsula, and create an awareness and understanding of tourism’s effect on, and enhancement of, the local economy and residents’ quality of life.”

AK Loyal / Buy Alaska / Alaska Grown

Several resources exist dedicated to advertising and marketing locally-grown or produced goods and services. Alaska-based makers can add their business, product, or service to the Buy Alaska listings, and agriculture-oriented businesses can take advantage of the Alaska Grown campaign.  The AK Loyal Facebook page promotes these and other brands like Alaska Wild, Travel Alaska, and Sustainable Seafood.

US Small Business Administration

The federal SBA has a variety of resources for business owners and start-ups, including information on business plans, grant sources, financing, business law, taxes, and federal/state licenses and permits.
